WHO WE ARE

JustWork emerged in 2004 in response to a growing number of people in the Grandview-Woodlands neighbourhood of East Vancouver who were struggling to find work and maintain it. JustWork initially began by offering vocational counselling but discovered that many employees were unable to secure stable employment in the traditional workforce.

Following this discovery, JustWork was incorporated as a charity in 2006, with a focus on the development of social enterprises to meet our mandate to offer dignified, meaningful work opportunities to people facing barriers to work. JustWork meets this mandate through the operation of three social enterprises: JustPotters, JustCatering, and JustRenos. JustWork also partners with like-minded organizations as part of a holistic approach to community care, creating opportunities for our employees to make valuable workplace contributions and enjoy the goodness of meaningful work.
VISION, MISSION AND VALUES

Vision
  • A healthy community where people are meaningfully and gainfully employed and where business practices embrace an ethical, social mandate.

Mission
  • JustWork fosters dignified, gainful work opportunities for people facing barriers to employment.

Values
  • Empowerment - By connecting and entrusting people with meaningful work opportunities, we encourage their gifts and capacities for work and therefore, their ability to contribute to the common good.
  • Interdependence - Our future is connected with those we are including in our work. Therefore, we embrace a model of interdependence - mutually giving and receiving to create a more caring and just neighborhood.
  • Stewardship - We attend to the resources and relationships that we have received. Therefore, we will promote the good of others and the care of creation while being fiscally responsible.
  • Transformation - We are committed to a vision of the world where all are valued and make valuable contributions.

Our work flows from a belief in the inherent dignity of all people, and we serve all without discriminating on factors such as race, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, or disability.
